WALNUT SPRINGS, Calif. - Two school records and several personal best times were recorded by the Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team Thursday evening in Walnut, Calif.
Junior Randi Wymer clocked a time of 10:50.50 to finish seventh overall in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Her time was good enough to set a new school record. Sophomore Adam Saloom followed up Wymer's performance by turning in a 9:02.74 in the men's steeplechase to place sixth in the race. Saloom's mark also set a new school record in the event.
The Ladyjacks had a trio of solid performances in the women's 10,000-meter run. Senior Amy Shackelford clocked a time of 35:08, followed by Megan Jenkins who was only four seconds back of Shackelford. Freshman Lauren Smith crossed the finish line with a time of 35:20. All three times were personal bests, and the times place all three runners in strong contention for the NCAA First Rounds.
