GAME INFORMATION
This Week: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (7-2-1), winners of five straight and having not lost since Aug. 26 at Tulsa, return home from a successful start to conference play to host Central Arkansas (5-5-1, 1-1-0) Friday and Northwestern State (7-5-0, 1-1-0) on Sunday.
Last Time Out: The Ladyjacks went 2-0 last weekend to kickoff Southland Conference play with two big road wins at UTSA and Texas State. Against the Roadrunners, Chelsea Raymond scored all three goals in a 3-0 victory against the same team that knocked SFA out of the conference tournament in 2010. SFA turned around on Sunday in San Marcos to beat the Bobcats 1-0 on a Kylie Louw goal with less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation to propel the Ladyjacks to their fifth straight win.
Central Arkansas Series History/Scouting Report: SFA leads the all-time series versus UCA 3-1-1 since first playing them in 2006. Both teams played to a 1-1 tie in Conway, Ark. last season. The Bears split their first two conference games last week in home match against Nicholls State (W, 2-1) and Southeastern La. (L, 3-0). UCA has outscored their opponents 18-12 and our led offensively by Madison Poteet in goals (3).
Northwestern St. History/Scouting Report: SFA also leads the all-time series against Northwestern State, 14-6-4, and have not lost to the Lady Demons since 2002, going 8-0-2 over that span. The Ladyjacks won last year’s match, 4-0 in Natchitoches. Northwestern State dropped a 3-1 decision versus Southeastern La. last weekend before rebounding to beat Nicholls State, 2-0 on Sunday. Meghan Hunter leads the Lady Demons in both goals (5) and points (14).
Louw Ties Assist Record: With her seventh assist of the season, junior midfielder Kylie Louw tied the school’s all-time assist record (22) previously held by Christie Mestayer. Louw is also only four assists away from tying Mestayer’s single-season assist mark of 11.
Ladyjacks Sweep Conference Awards: Following an impressive road trip to start conference play 2-0, Stephen F. Austin freshman Chelsea Raymond was named the Southland Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while junior teammate Breanne Vernon was named defensive player of the week and sophomore Lacey Lee was selected as goalkeeper of the week.
Moving Up In National RPI: The Ladyjacks checked into the latest RPI Polls at 59th in the nation, ahead of the likes of Texas (64), BYU (65), SMU (80) and TCU (86). They are easily the highest ranked team in the Southland Conference, topping Texas State (124), UTSA (186) and Southeastern La. (202).
Nine Wins: SFA finished the 2010 season with a 13-5-2 overall record. This marked the eighth consecutive season for the Ladyjacks to pick up at least nine victories and is the program's seventh straight winning season. The last time an SFA squad failed to reach the nine-win plateau was 2002, also the last time the Ladyjacks posted a losing season (7-9-4).
Title Town: The SFA women's soccer program has brought an unprecedented five Southland Conference regular-season championships back to Nacogdoches. That total is nearly half of the 13 possible regular-season titles in SLC Soccer history.
