SFA Tennis Fights Hard in Second Day

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's tennis team continued to fight hard in the ITA/USTA Regional Championships in the second day of the play from the TCU Bayard H. Friedman tennis center.
Senior Alina Shazhko made it to round 32 of the championships until she fell to Texas Tech's Samantha Adams Saturday morning 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Tereza Bekerova fought hard being ranked number seven in singles play where she squared off against UNT's Nadia Lee, in round 32, defeating her 6-7, 6-4,6-3. Bekerova fought hard in round 16, but unfortunately lost to the number two player of the tournament, UT's Aeriel Eliss, 6-2, 7-5.
Bekerova and Malena Gordo continued to win the doubles consolation bracket, beating out USTA duo 8-3. The two will be squared off in the semi-finals Monday morning at 10:00 a.m.
