NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack head tennis coach Patrick Sullivan announced the signing of Ksenia Berestetska to a National Letter of Intent Monday afternoon. Berestetska becomes Sullivan's first signee, and strengthens a Ladyjack roster that has advanced to the Southland Conference Championships each of the past three seasons.
A native of Kiev, Ukraine Berestetska brings the Ladyjack roster to a total of seven student-athletes.
"I am very excited that Ksenia has decided to join us," said Sullivan. "She is a patient baseliner with exceptional footwork who prides herself on conditioning and who will thrive in the Texas heat. She is also an outstanding student with strong character, and will help us right away with the on and off-court goals we have set for the upcoming year."
Having only recently turned 17, Berestetska is one of Ukraine's top junior players. She has competed in ITF junior tournaments throughout Europe. Berestetska plans to study communications at SFA and her goal is to play on the pro tour following graduation.
The Ladyjack tennis opens its fall schedule Friday, September 17, in Denton at the Mean Green Invitational.
