NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team returns Nacogdoches to open the home portion of its fall schedule Friday by hosting the SFA Fall Invitational. The three-day tournament will run through Sunday. All matches will take place at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
The tournament will consist of players representing 10 teams. The teams competing in the tournament include Sam Houston State, Louisiana Tech, Texas State, McNeese State, Northwestern State, Lamar, Lee College, St. Edwards and Tyler Junior College.
The tournament will consist four singles' draws of 16 players each, and two draws of 16 doubles teams each. Matches will begin in the morning and run through the afternoon all three days.
"The thing I like the most about our team is their positive attitude and willingness to work hard," said head coach Patrick Sullivan. "The gap in talent level between the top team and the bottom team in our conference isn't huge, so the teams that are willing to work hard are the ones that are going to end up on top. Our girls want to be the hardest working team in the conference and if they can achieve that, positive results will follow."
The Ladyjacks opened the season Sept. 17 at the Mean Green Invitational in Denton, Texas. SFA recorded 20 wins and won all of their three-set matches at the tournament.
