NEW ORLEANS, La. - Stephen F. Austin junior distance runner Adam Saloom was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team announced organization officials Friday afternoon. Saloom becomes the fourth SFA athlete in the last 24 hours named to the elite list.
Saloom helped guide the Lumberjacks to runner-up finishes at both the Southland Conference Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past season. Saloom was one of the conference's best steeplechasers during the 2010 campaign. Saloom clocked a time of 9:12.92 to finish third overall and earn All-SLC honors.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field team, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard, or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
Saloom joins Ladyjacks Carrie Hahn, Stephanie Ganter and Frednisha Marshall who were named to the team Thursday.
