
SFA Wins Two Titles in Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team recorded two individual titles Friday night at the Arkansas Twilight meet in Fayetteville, Ark.
Sophomore Nick McCloud won the first individual title by clocking a time of 13.83 in the 110-meter hurdles. McCloud was just shy of another individual title when he finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.55.
The team's other individual title came from Harmon McClanahan in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. McClanahan posted a time of 9:22.19 in the event. Teammate Logan Smart finished third overall only 38-hundredths of a second off the pace. The Ladyjacks also placed two in the top five of the women's steeplechase. Meredith Blocker clocked a time of 11:14.74 to finish third overall, while Randi Wymer was fourth (11:17.19).
Sophomore Mitch Ownbey just missed adding a third individual title to the SFA haul Friday night. He finished second overall with a time of 14:40.82. Junior Dennis Yeats was fourth in the race with a time of 14:51.14. Sophomore Mary Dickerson was the team's top finisher in the women's 400 meters. Dickerson clocked a time of 54.76 to finish fifth overall in the event.
Junior Amy Shackelford and junior Megan Jenkins provided a strong one-two punch for the Ladyjacks in the women's 5,000 meters. Shackelford crossed the line third overall with a time of 17:40.75, while Jenkins was fourth (17:43.73).
Senior Silent-Joy Egboba-Waye recorded top-five finishes on the track and in a field event. She was fourth in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.14. She returned to action in the long jump where she posted a mark of 19-6.00 to finish third.
Freshman Joe Barb and Chris Moody led the SFA effort in the men's 400-meters. Barb was second overall with a time of 46.86, while Moody finished fourth overall (47.76). Senior Travis Beavers added a third-place finish in the men's 400-meter hurdles. He finished the race with a time of 52.65.
SFA's relay squads posted three top-five marks in Fayetteville. The women's 400-meter relay team was fifth posting a time of 48.00. The SFA women returned to the track to finish fourth overall with a time of 3:40.41 in the 1,600-meter relay. The SFA men posted a top-five finish in the 400-meter relay. The `Jacks clocked a time of 41.31 to finish fourth overall.
The SFA track and field team will return to action Saturday afternoon at the Northwestern State Invitational in Natchitoches, La. Sophomore distance runner Stephanie Ganter will also be competing at the Standford Invitational.
