
SFA Track & Field Very Strong at Conference Meet

NORMAN, Okla. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack indoor track and field team won its second consecutive conference title Saturday in Norman, Okla., while the men's team scored 99.5 points to finish second overall. The Ladyjacks scored 151 points to outdistance their closest competition by 29 points.
At the time of the original release three events had not been posted, and all three were point-scoring events for SFA. The Lumberjacks placed four athletes in the top eight of the heptathlon, and three in the finals of the 400 meters.
The SFA heptathletes were led by junior Chris Jones who just missed all-conference honors with his fourth-place finish. Jones recorded a score of 5,129 points at the meet. Sophomore Andrew Plentl was fifth overall after scoring 5,094 points. Senior Aaron Harlan finished seventh with a score of 4,848 points, placing just ahead of teammate Josh Cravens (4,846 points).
Freshman Joe Barb earned All-SLC honors in the men's 400 meters clocking a time of 48.33 to finish third overall. Barb finished just ahead of Moody who was fourth with a time of 48.46. Junior Donovan Sammons was seventh overall with a time of 49.35.
Sophomore Danielle Burchett recorded a top-eight finish in the women's 800-meter run. Burchett finished seventh overall with a time of 2:18.30 in the event.
