Series Notes
- The `Jacks will be looking to pick up their first win over the Demons at Jaycees Field since the opener of the 2006 SLC series played there - the first time the teams has played since th `Jacks resurrected the program. Since 2006, the Demons have won eight of 11 games in the series overall. SFA got a win in the Warhawk Classic last season ove Northwestern State behind 8.0 innings from Brett Rogers in his collegiate debut; however, the Demons made up for that with two wins in Natchitoches in league play less than a month later.
- The teams were scheduled to have already met this season in non-conference action at the SFA Lumberjack Classic; however, inclement weather forced the cancellation of the game and the modification of the tournament from a three-day, to a two-day classic.
- The weekend will feature two of the top teams in the Southland early in the season as it will be the only league series this weekend with a pair of teams that have already reached 10 victories on the year. It is also a matchup of tow of the top offenses in league with SFA leading the league with a .332 average and the Demons finding themselves just two spots away at a .308 clip as a team; however, the Demons are averaging just slightly more runs per contest than SFA at 9.06 rpg compared to SFA's 8.68
- Friday's pitching matchup will be a battle of two of the hottest pitchers in the SLC in SFA's Tyler Herriage and Northwestern's Luke Irvine. Neither pitcher has allowed a run in their last two starts with Herriage carrying a 13-inning scoreless streak into Friday and Irvine having a 12-inning streak of his own. Oddly enough, the last time either pitcher allowed a run it was on Jaycees Field on the first day of the SFA Lumberjack Classic two weeks ago.
