FRISCO, Texas - Three Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks were named Wednesday to the 2010 Soccer Academic All-Southland Conference team, according to an announcement by league officials. Kylie Louw, Kelli Barnes and Courtney Bauder each earned recognition on the 24-player list with Louw taking a spot on the first team.
The three selections are the most for SFA since four Ladyjacks made the team in 2008 and give the program multiple academic honorees in seven of the last eight years. As a team, SFA carried a 3.21 GPA into the 2010 season, earning the Ladyjacks a share of the NSCAA College Team Academic Award.
Louw, a sophomore from South Africa, has a 3.49 GPA in her kinesiology major. She finished with 20 points this season, tying for the team lead despite missing two games due to injury and three games at the end of the season while playing in a Women's World Cup qualifying event with the South African national team. She scored seven goals and had a team-leading six assists in 15 games.
Louw was named the Southland Conference Co-Player of the Year and was a First-Team All-Southland honoree for the second consecutive season. She also earned a spot on the NSCAA/Performance Subaru All-Central Region squad.
Barnes and Bauder, both seniors, were named to the second team.
Barnes is a general business major with a 3.0 GPA. She started every game but one this season and captained a Ladyjack back line that allowed the fewest shots on goal and the third-fewest goals in the Southland. Barnes, an Allen, Texas native, earned honorable-mention all-conference recognition.
Bauder is an English major with a 3.33 GPA. The Las Vegas native started 13 games in net this season and posted a 1.16 goals-against average with 43 saves. She finished the year with a 10-4-1 record. Bauder will leave SFA with a career record of 29-17-5, and her four-year goals-against average of 1.16 ranks second on the Ladyjack career records list.
