SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Southland Conference announced Sunday that Kim Kimmel was named to the 2010 Southland Soccer All-Tournament Team. The senior forward makes her first appearance on the postseason tournament team after scoring SFA's only goal in tourney play.
Kimmel scored the equalizer just before time expired in the first half of Friday's semifinals game against UTSA. The goal was her eighth of the season, moving Kimmel into a tie with Jordan King for the team lead.
More importantly, it tied the score and allowed SFA to extend the game through two overtimes and into a shootout. The Ladyjacks fell, 5-4, in the shootout, marking the third consecutive season for their tournament trip to end in a tie with the other team advancing in a shootout. The Roadrunners went on to defeat Southeastern Louisiana in Sunday's championship game.
Kimmel's postseason honor comes in the same season she was named First-Team All-Conference. She ends her career with two All-Southland awards and one All-Southland Tournament honor.
