LAKE CHARLES, La. - Following a five-hour rain delay, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack golf team was able to complete the first round of action in the Cowgirl Fall Invitational in Lake Charles. The teams played the first six holes of the second round on the par-72, 6255-yard course before being pulled off the course due to darkness. The Ladyjacks finished the day seventh overall after shooting a 33-over par, 321.
Junior Noelle Wilcoxon closed out the first day in the top 10 with a two-over 74. She is currently tied for seventh overall. Freshman Marissa Bransburg is within striking distance of Willcoxon, only two strokes back (38-38 - 76). She is currently tied for 13th overall.
The Ladyjacks enter the final day needing to close the gap between their Nos. 2 and 3 players. Freshman Sara Jones is currently 39th overall after carding a 12-over par 84 in the opening round. Classmate Rose Marie Henderson is three strokes back of Jones with an 87, and is currently tied for 42nd. Sophomore Allison Flake recorded a 45-43 - 88 on the opening day of competition. Flake enters the final round of action 44th overall.
The Ladyjacks return to the course Tuesday morning to close out the Cowgirl Invitational. The shotgun start is slated to get under way at 9 a.m.
