
Gregersen Drafted For Second Straight Season

ORLANDO, Fla. - Pitcher Erik Gregersen became the third Lumberjack taken in the MLB Draft on Thursday, as he was selected in the 37th round by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
It is the second time in his career that Gregersen has been drafted after having been selected in the 36th round last season by the Cincinnati Reds. With the selection in makes eight of the 10 selections from SFA since 2006 being pitchers, including each of the last seven.
Gregersen made 16 appearances for SFA in 2009, including nine starts. He finished the season 2-5 with 42 strikeouts in 43.1 innings, going at least 5.0 innings in each of his first five starts of the season.
As a junior Gregersen led the `Jacks with 62 strikeouts, and finished out his senior season third all-time at SFA with 147 strikeouts for his career. His 79 appearances over four seasons is second all-time at the school only to Richard Folmer's 96 outings, while his 168.0 innings ranks him eighth for his career at SFA.
Gregersen was the final of 20 players from the Southland Conference that were selected in the draft by major league teams, the third most ever for the SLC. It was the most selected from the league since 24 players were taken in the 2004 draft.
