LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The momentum built up by freshman distance runner Mitch Ownbey last week at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships continued Friday evening at the Cardinal Twilight meet in Louisville, Ky. Less than a week following his tremendous finish to place second in the 5,000-meter run at the SLC Championships, Ownbey posted a time of 14:11.29 to finish second in the event in Louisville.
Ownbey's time set a new school record and qualified him for the NCAA Regional Championships later this month. The rest of the SFA track and field team returns to action Saturday when they travel to Natchitoches, La., to compete in the NSU Last Chance Qualifier.
