Probable Pitching Matchups
Friday: SFA - Jared Schrom, RHP (0-1, 5.62, 24.0 IP, 21 K, 12 BB) Houston - Mo Wiley, RHP (2-2, 5.79 ERA, 25 K, 12 BB)
THIS WEEK A single midweek game at Houson is on the calendar before SFA hosts No. 2 team in the SLC right now, UTA. SFA has played UH multiple times each season since bringing baseball back in 2006.
AGAINST THE COUGARS The Cougars lead the series 28-2 since 1984 after their 7-5 win in Nacogdoches on Feb. 24. The last win for SFA over Houston was in 2006 with the `Jacks having never won at Cougar Field. Last season's was a close one with a walk-off RBI single for UH notching a 5-4 win.

UPDATING THE 'JACKS The `Jacks dropped four of six games last week with three of those losses coming by just a single run. SFA is now 0.5 games back of McNeese State for the final spot in the SLC Tournament with four league series' remaining.
UP NEXT UTA comes to town on Friday to open up another three-game SLC series. The `Jacks took a 12-6 non-conference win over UTA in Ediburg in late February, but since then the Mavs have pushed their way near the top of the SLC standings. UTA currently sits just 1.5 games back of first-place Texas State, but improving up on that could be tough this week as SFA has won five of the last seven meetings overall including winning two of three games last season in Nacogdoches.
What To Watch For:
- Richard Folmer needs just one more save to pass Kyle Standley for the all-time lead at SFA with 16. Folmer was riding a 10.1 scoreless inning streak before Sunday's game at McNeese State.
- Since being asked to hit for himself on April 14 at Louisiana-Lafayette, Ryan Priest has come alive at the plate. He has at least one hit in his last four games, and at least one RBI in three of those. His best game was in the second game against UTPA, going 4-for4 with three RBI.
- The Cougars rode the strength of seven runs in the first three innings in the SFA home opener on Feb. 24 to take a 7-5 win. The `Jacks made a go of it late in the game, getting to the UH bullpen for three runs in the ninth to get it close. SFA has not won at Cougar Field in recorded history.
- Jared Schrom is getting the start for the `Jacks, and he has had some success against the Cougars in previous outings. He got the win on May 2, 2006, with 5.0 innings of scoreless relief the last time SFA defeated the Couagars. That game finished with a 3-2 score in favor of SFA, which is also the last time SFA has beaten a ranked opponent.
