
'Jacks Blast Binghamton

MORAGA, Calif. - Stephen F. Austin took advantage of a cold-shooting start to the second half by Binghamton to build a 30-point lead and coast to a 64-43 win Wednesday on the final day of the Saint Mary's Shamrock Office Solutions Classic. The win moves SFA to 2-0 in the event and keeps the Lumberjacks perfect at 4-0 in tournaments this season.
With the victory, SFA improves to 9-3 on the year, while Binghamton falls to 4-10.
Binghamton opened the second period by missing nine of its first 10 attempts from the field. Aside from a layup at the 16:58 mark, the Bearcats' only offense over the first 10 minutes of the half came at the foul stripe. Binghamton scored just four points total in the first 9:49 of the period.
Meanwhile, SFA jumped out to a 30-point lead (55-25) by the 12:05 mark and never looked back. Nine different Lumberjacks played 14 minutes or more, and the SFA bench finished with a 16-11 scoring advantage over the Binghamton reserves.
Junior guard Eddie Williams scored 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting to lead the 'Jacks. He was named to the all-tournament team. Sophomore center Jereal Scott added 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting, and senior guard Walt Harris finished with 10 points.
Williams pulled down five rebounds to tie with junior forward Jordan Glynn for the team lead.
Chrietien Lukasa scored 18 points and was the only Bearcat to reach double digits.
For the game, SFA shot 50 percent from the field, while holding Binghamton to 44.2 percent. The Bearcats shot just 36 percent after the break and were 2-for-11 from 3-point range for the game.
The Lumberjacks forced 16 turnovers while giving it up just eight times and outscored the Bearcats, 25-6, in points off turnovers.
Senior Eric Bell, Glynn, senior Aaron Smith and freshman Will Reinke scored six points apiece for SFA.
The 'Jacks will finish off their non-conference schedule on Jan. 2 with a home game against Texas College. SFA opens Southland Conference play at Sam Houston State on Jan. 9.
