NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team will take on Northwestern State Friday night, but SFA will also square off with another adversary. The Ladyjacks will help wrap up Breast Cancer Awareness Month with their inaugural "Kick Pink" game. Several promotional activities are scheduled to help raise awareness as part of the fight against breast cancer.
The field will be painted with a pink ribbon at midfield, and the SFA players and sideline personnel will wear pink jerseys and sweatshirts. The back of each player's jersey will bear the name of a loved one who has battled cancer. All jerseys and sweatshirts will be bid out in a silent auction during the game.
The auction will also include gift baskets, and all proceeds will be donated to further cancer research. In addition, the team will host a raffle with an autographed ball, four autographed posters, cookies from Cookies and Creamery, and a gift basket from Java Jack's up for grabs. Zeta Tau Alpha sorority will be on hand distributing pink ribbons and selling T-shirts at the game. A group of breast cancer survivors will be recognized during a ceremony at halftime.
Sponsors of the event include Baker Triangle, Main Street Salon, AAA Trophy, Java Jack's and Cookies and Creamery. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. from the SFA Soccer Complex. For more information, contact the SFA assistant coach Kelli Partridge at (936) 468-4207.
