NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Head baseball coach Johnny Cardenas has set the dates for the upcoming fall World Series, with an alumni game also scheduled to cap the weekend's festivities.
The Lumberjacks have scheduled its annual fall World Series for Nov. 12-14 with a single game set for each day. Following Saturday's series conclusion, the current `Jacks will take on former Lumberjacks in an alumni game that is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 15 at 12:00 p.m.
The alumni game is the first of its kind for the SFA baseball program and all alumni participants are invited to attend the game and the fall banquet at CC's Smokehouse restaurant in Nacogdoches, beginning at 4:00 p.m., following Sunday's game.
"This is something that we are wanting to get going for years to come," Cardenas said. "A game like this is a great way for us to reconnect with our alumni and other supporters of the SFA baseball program. It's not just for recent alumni, but for any former player."
Cost for the banquet for attendees will be $10 and all former players interested in taking part in the game should contact the President of the SFA Baseball Alumni Association, Zach Gardner either via email at gardnerzl9@gmail.com or at (281) 799-1463.
"It's going to be a really fun weekend for all of the coaches and the players alike," Cardenas said. "Having our current players know what came before them is important to building tradition here at SFA, and that is exactly what we want to do."
