
Brian Wall Wins 800 Meters

HOUSTON, Texas - The Lumberjacks lone senior, Brian Wall, posted the team's first individual title Saturday afternoon winning the 800 meters in the second and final day of competition at the Houston Invite & Multis. Wall recorded a time of 1:56.20 to win the event. He was one of two Lumberjacks to finish in the top 10, as Travis Beavers finished ninth overall with a time of 1:57.83.
Junior Chris Moody had a solid outing for SFA in the men's 200 meters. Moody recorded a time of 22.37 to finish fourth overall.
In events that concluded late Friday evening, junior Matt Langdon won the men's weight throw with a mark of 62-11.50. Not only did Langdon win the event, but his throw also set a new school record. Freshman Jon Arthur finished eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 52-5.50. Arthur returned to action Saturday and recorded a third-place finish in the shot put (53-3.75).
The Ladyjacks placed two athletes in the finals of the women's "B" long jump. Sophomores Alicia Jackson and Camelia Sams each finished in the top five with Jackson taking second (18-2.25), and Sams finishing fourth overall (17-11.75). Junior Silent-Joy Egboba-Waye finished seventh in the long jump with her mark of 18-7.25.
Freshman Nick McCloud continues to impress the SFA coaching staff. McCloud recorded a time of 8.03 to finish third in the 60-meter hurdles, while sophomore Arteria Sterns crossed the finish line with a time of 7.62 to place fifth in the women's 60-meter dash. McCloud returned to the track to record a 10th-place finish in the men's 200 meters (22.37).
Less than 24 hours after winning the women's weight throw, junior Frednisha Marshall recorded another top-five finish. She posted a throw of 45-9.25 to finish third overall. Marshall just beat out teammate Kaitlyn Andrews who recorded the same throw, but was fourth based on the tiebreak.

Other SFA athletes who recorded top-10 finishes Saturday include sophomore Andrew Plentl who cleared a height of 6-6.25 to finish tied for ninth in the high jump. Freshman Carrie Hahn also posted a ninth-place finish for the Ladyjacks in the high jump. She cleared a height of 5-3.00. Junior Josh Cruse recorded a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with his mark of 47-5.00. Freshman Lauren Watts, who has been recording solid times in the 800 meters, stepped down to the 400 and clocked a 58.75 to finish ninth overall.
