Chepkoech seeks advancement into quarterfinals, Jemutai eyes Eugene as potential top 12 finisher

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A pair of Stephen F. Austin female student-athletes are in action on Thursday night at the NCAA Division I West Regional in Northwest Arkansas from John McDonnell Field on the University of Arkansas campus. Evaline Chepkoech competes in the first round of the women's 1500m, while Valentine Jemutai's 10000m participation will determine West representation at the 2026 NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon. QUALIFYING - 23rd of 47: Garcia clocked the second-fastest time among heat five competitors with a 1:48.30 from lane two; just 0:00.09 back of his program record in the event. He posted the fastest split in the second 400m at 54.10. Arizona State's Dayton Carlson won the heat with the 14th fastest time in qualifying.

QUALIFYING - 17th of 48: Anderson posted a 50.77 (50.763) to place 17th overall in the preliminaries and advance to Friday's final as one of the top six remaining times not among the top three in each heat. Anderson, in lane six of heat two, placed fourth in the heat with the top three runners all posting top 15 times overall with Texas A&M's Ja'Qualon Scott hitting 50.10 in heat two as the third-fastest qualifying time overall.
