
SFA Records Four NCAA Regional Marks

NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team sent 12 athletes to Natchitoches, La., over the weekend to compete in the NSU-NCAA Qualifier. SFA recorded five individual titles, and four NCAA regional marks Saturday.
Senior Zach Ross recorded a regional mark in the preliminaries of the men's 110-meter hurdles with his time of 14.11. He returned to the track to win the event, and post another regional mark in the finals with a time of 14.14.
Classmate Katrina Roundtree posted SFA's third regional mark of the afternoon when she recorded a time of 54.51 to win the women's 400-meter dash. SFA's other regional qualifier came in the field events when sophomore Matt Langdon recorded a toss of 180-2 to finish third in the weight throw.
Senior Sumbo Adeniran won the men's long jump with a mark of 23-10.00. The Ladyjacks received two big performances from a couple of underclassmen. Sophomore Silent-Joy Egboba-Waye won the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.05, while freshman Arteria Sterns won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.55.
Sophomore Frednisha Marshall finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 163-8. Classmate Martin Agoes recorded a fifth-place finish in the men's hammer (139-11). Freshman Ty Thomas clocked a time of 10.81 to finish third in the men's 100-meter dash, while senior Johnny Thacker was fifth overall with a time of 11.01. Senior Stephon Rhea led a trio of Lumberjacks in the 200-meter dash. Rhea finished third in the event with a time of 21.78. Thomas was fourth in the event (21.78), while freshman Sherman Rosborough clocked a 22.52 to finish sixth overall.
SFA returns to action Friday, May 30, when it travels to Lincoln, Neb., to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships. The two-day event will run through Saturday.
