Luetge And Crabtree Take SLC Honors

FRISCO, Texas - With SFA heading into the final week of the regular season, the `Jacks continue to dominate the Southland Conference's weekly honors as Lance Luetge and Kevin Crabtree were named the SLC's Pitcher and Hitter of the Week on Monday.
It is the third time this season that Crabtree has taken the honor, and the second time in consecutive weeks, sharing this week's honor with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Stephen Flora. Luetge claims the award for the first time this season and the second time in his career, becoming the first Lumberjack pitcher to earn the honor this year
With the two selections, SFA now has six Player of the Week nods which is the most in the Southland Conference.
Luetge tossed his second complete game in three weeks on Friday, picking up a 7-2 win over Texas-Arlington to run the `Jacks win streak to nine. His performance was the most dominant of any Lumberjack pitcher this season, allowing only six hits and two unearned runs on the afternoon. He walked only one and struck out seven on the day, getting 17 ground-ball outs and only letting three balls leave the infield in nine innings of work. Even more impressive was that of the six Maverick hits, four of them were of the infield variety.
As for Crabtree, he continues to swing arguably the hottest bat in the SLC after his three-game performance against the Mavs. Crabtree had multiple hits in each of the three games, including a pair of home runs. He has now upped his hit streak to 17 games, and has hit safely in 24 of 26 conference games this year. He hit .615 for the week and had three RBI in each of the three games.
The pair's performances kept the `Jacks firmly in the race for the SLC Tournament as they trail Southeastern Louisiana and Texas-Arlington by 1 ½ games apiece for the final spot in the tournament. SFA takes on Baylor in the year's final non-conference game on Wednesday before opening up a three-game series against Sam Houston on Thursday.
