SFA Records Nine Individual Titles at NSU

Sophomore Matt Langdon set a new school record the men's hammer throw. He recorded a throw of 181-1 to finish second in the event. Senior Zach Ross set a regional qualifying mark in the 400-meter hurdles. He finished second overall with his time of 51.76.
Freshman Corvell Arterberry won the men's long jump. Arterberry recorded a mark of 23-5.50 to bring home the individual. Senior Justin Reyes followed with an individual title in the high jump. Reyes cleared a height of 6-8.75 in the event to bring home the title. Freshman Elliot Starcevich recorded his first career individual title for the 'Jacks in the 800 meters. Starcevich crossed the finish line with a time of 2:00.11. He also recorded a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter run when he clocked a time of 3:58.80.
The Ladyjacks were led by junior Ashley Dickeson who won the women's pole vault. Dickeson cleared a season-best height of 11-1.75 to take home the title. Two-way sport start Nikki Carr recorded her first individual title of the season with a mark of 37-3.75 in the triple jump. Carr also recorded a jump of 19-0.50 to finish fourth overall in her long jump competition of the season. Freshman Arteria Sterns recorded an individual title in the women's 200-meter dash. Sterns clocked a time of 24.55 in the event for the victory. Mineola, Texas, freshman Meredith Blocker won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with her time of 11:28.03.
Sophomore Silent-Joye Egboba-Waye recorded an individual title when she recorded a time of 14.08 in the 100-meter hurdles. She just missed another individual title by finishing second in the long jump with a mark of 19-6.25.
Senior Katrina Roundtree just missed another Ladyjack individual title by half a second. She posted a time of 55.85 in the women's 400-meter dash to place second in the event. Classmate Alecia Green also recorded a second-place finish in the women's 100-meter dash (11.99).
The SFA relay teams also got in the act Saturday. The Lumberjacks' team of Ty Thomas, Sherman Rosborough, Sumbo Adeniran and Stephon Rhea won the men's 4x100-meter relay with their time of 41.14. The Ladyjacks followed in the 1,600-meter relay. The team of Katrina Roundtree, Kelia Crawford, Diona Finley and Arteria Sterns clocked a time of 3:56.40 to win the event.
SFA returns to action Friday, April 18, when it travels to Fayetteville, Ark., for the John McDonnell Invitational. The two-day meet will be hosted by the University of Arkansas.
