NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin junior forward Josh Alexander was named Thursday to the CollegeHoops.net All-American team as an honorable mention selection. This marks the second All-America honor in Alexander's three-year career.
The Shreveport, La., native was named to the CollegeInsider.com Freshman All-American team in 2005-06, his first year on campus. That season, Alexander led the Lumberjacks in both scoring and rebounding and also earned Southland Conference Freshman of the Year accolades.
Two years later, not much has changed. This season, Alexander was SFA's top scorer and rebounder for the third consecutive campaign and was rewarded by being named the SLC Player of the Year. He scored 16.1 points per game and pulled down 5.9 rebounds per contest to help lead the Lumberjacks to a 26-6 record and the program's first-ever Southland Conference championship. The 26-6 mark is the best for an SFA team since joining NCAA Division I for the 1986-87 season and ranks fourth all-time in Lumberjack single-season win totals for any level of competition.
The CollegeHoops.net All-American teams are selected by vote of staff writers.
