FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin's Courtney Bauder has been named the Southland Conference goalkeeper of the week, according to an announcement made by league officials on Tuesday. The honor is the first of Bauder's career and marks SFA's first weekly goalkeeper award of the 2008 season.
Bauder gave a spotless performance in the Ladyjacks' two wins over the weekend. She stopped two shots in Friday's 1-0 win over Lamar, then turned in 10 saves in a must-win 2-0 victory over McNeese State on Sunday. The 10 saves tied a career-high for Bauder and helped SFA clinch a share of second place in the SLC standings.
For the season, Bauder has posted six shutouts and allowed just five goals in conference play. She has recorded 63 saves this year and wrapped up the regular season with four consecutive shutouts. Bauder (9-6-1) has not allowed a goal in 413 minutes.
Bauder and the Ladyjacks (9-7-1, 6-2-1 SLC) will begin play in the Southland Conference Tournament on Thursday. SFA is the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 Southeastern Louisiana in a 4:30 p.m. game in the first round. The winner of that contest will advance to meet 2008 champion Texas State in the semifinals on Friday.
