
SLC Soccer Tournament Schedule Announced

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team will open play in the 2008 Southland Conference Championships on Thursday. SFA, the No. 4 seed, will take on No. 5 Southeastern Louisiana in the first round with the match scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
The No. 4 vs. No. 5 match-up was originally scheduled as the late game on Thursday. The start times were switched to accommodate the wishes of host team McNeese State, which exercised its option to play in the second semifinal game on Friday night.
SFA's game with Southeastern will be followed by the 7 p.m. match-up between No. 3 UTSA and No. 6 Northwestern State. The winner of that contest will advance to meet the No. 2 Cowgirls in a 7 p.m. game Friday. The SFA-Southeastern victor will will take on No. 1 Texas State in a 4:30 p.m. semifinals showdown Friday afternoon. The championship game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
All games will be played at the Ward 3 Sports Complex in Lake Charles, La.
The Ladyjacks are coming off a 9-7-1 season. SFA went 6-2-1 in Southland Conference play to finish in a three-team tie for second place. The Ladyjacks took the tournament's No. 4 seed by virtue of SLC tie-breaker procedure.
The Ladyjacks captured the 2007 SLC Tournament title with back-to-back shutout wins against UTSA and McNeese State. In all, SFA sports a 5-7 record in SLC Tournament play with two championships and one runner-up finish.
