NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Ladyjacks are the lone unbeaten team remaining in the Southland Conference and have not lost in over a month with 12 straight wins coming since then. This week the Ladyjacks take on a pair of foes from South Texas, first off with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Nacogdoches.
First serve for Wednesday's tilt with the Islanders is set for 7:00 p.m. The match can be followed via Gametracker or viewed via SFA All-Access by clicking the "watch" button on the volleyball schedule page. A fee of $5.95 is charged to view via SFA All-Access.
SFA (14-3, 5-0) has players ranked at or near the top in nearly every statistical category in the SLC, starting with Laurel Kuepker leading the conference in digs and having been honored with her third SLC Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday.
Ashley Bailey and MC Bottles are on record-setting paces as well, both going after the single-season attack percentage mark at SFA. Bottles currently holds a .377 mark with Bailey right behind her at .376, each being good enough to eclipse the current record of .371 set by Kristy Rhodes in 1999.
A Look At The Opponents:
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi: The Islanders have struggled this season, having lost seven of their last eight matches. They did pick up a conference sweep of UT-Arlington in Corpus Christi and took both Sam Houston and UTSA to five sets, but have still only managed a 1-4 conference start through five matches. SFA is 4-0 all-time against TAMUCC, having never lost a single set to the Islanders in that time.
Lauren Paslay ranks fourth in the conference in kills per set with 3.15, while Kase McBrearty is not far behind, ranking seventh with 2.98 per set. Setter Molly McCabe has the Islanders fourth in the league as a team with 11.11 assists per set, while she dishes out 9.55 by herself to rank fifth in the SLC.
What To Watch For:
• Junior Ashley Bailey has hit at least .263 in each of her last 11 matches, and at least .435 in each of her last seven matches. In that 11-match span she is hitting .467 and averaging 2.95 kills and 1.11 blocks per set.
• SFA is 39-2 in Johnson Coliseum since 2005.
• The Ladyjacks have never lost a single set to the Islanders, having swept all four contests since TAMUCC entered the Southland Conference in 2006.
