FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin junior Megan Cash was named Tuesday the Southland Conference Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement by league officials. The award is Cash's first of the season but marks the third straight week for a Ladyjack to take one of the league's three honors.
Cash scored both goals in Friday's 2-1 win at Sam Houston State. The victory left SFA alone in first place in the Southland with an undefeated 3-0-0 league record. It also ended the Bearkats' seven-game, shutout win streak. Cash's first goal, scored in the fifth minute, was the first goal given up by Sam Houston in more than 650 minutes.
Cash went on to score what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 33rd minute. The two-goal performance marked her second multi-goal game in the last four contests. Cash recorded her first career hat trick in a 10-2 win over Prairie View A&M on Sept. 28. Cash now leads SFA in both goals (6) and points (13).
The Ladyjacks (6-5-0) will try to extend both their four-game win streak and their 10-game home win streak this weekend when they host a pair of Central Texas foes. SFA will take on UTSA Friday in a 7 p.m. match, then square off with Texas State Sunday at 1 p.m.
