
SFA Tennis Picks Up As It Hosts Tournament

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin tennis team continued its fall schedule by hosting a six-team tournament this weekend.
Matches were held at the SFA tennis complex on Friday and Saturday, with the Ladyjacks picking up several wins in the process.
Sophomore Roxana Enica picked up a Friday win in Flight 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0, victory over Gretchen Ashley of Centenary before falling to Martixel Gol of McNeese State in the day's second match. Saturday would prove different as she would pick up an early-morning singles win over Louisiana-Monroe's Lena Satge 6-1, 6-0.
Head coach Bret Arrant would also watch on as a pair of freshmen, Sanjana Kapur and Andreea Enica, would find success over the weekend as well. Kapur participated in Flight 2 singles action, picking up a win on Friday over Courtney Meyers of Centenary 6-0, 6-1; Saturday would see her pick up a straight set (6-1, 6-1) win over McNeese's Victoria Martinez.
Enica was a part of the main 16-player draw along with teammate Mary Harrison and picked up a pair of wins on Friday. Anh Nguyen would fall to Enica 6-0, 6-0 first and in second-round action it would be Texas State's Mackenzie Farmer falling victim to Enica (6-4, 6-4). She would fall on Saturday to ULM's Sharon Makhanya in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Harrison would pick up a pair of wins on Friday as well, over Elodie Burlett of ULM and Sumarie Muller of Texas State (6-3, 6-1).
Doubles play would see the SFA pair of Andreea Enica and Harrison take the consolation of Flight 2 after knocking off the Texas State pair of Muller and McLeod 9-8 (11-9).
