NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Lauren Railey made history at SFA and the Ladyjacks thumped UT-Pan American 3-0 (30-10, 30-12, 30-21) to pick up their sixth straight win - the fourth in a row via sweep.
The Ladyjacks' (12-5, 2-0) defense held the Lady Broncs (7-12) to just a .017 hitting percentage for the evening, the third-best defensive effort SFA has put forth this season.
But it was junior Lauren Railey who picked up her seventh double-double of the season on Tuesday - with a 17 digs and a match-high 12 kills - to become only the fifth Ladyjack to ever accumulate 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career. Railey did her work in efficient style, only missing the mark twice on 29 attacks for a .345 attack percentage in the three games.
She was not alone in her efforts, however, as Briana Taylor, Ashley Bailey and Laurel Kuepker also brought their A-games to the court. Taylor entered the match in the top 15 in the country in blocks and did not hurt her cause as she picked up another seven to her season total, along with 10 kills.
Kuepker kept alive 18 digs and Bailey made her presence known as well. Bailey hit a career-best .714 on the night, registering 10 kills with no errors on 14 total attacks.
All in all it was a quick night for the Ladyjacks as they were able to dispose of UTPA in only 1 hour and 13 minutes.
The Lady Broncs were led by Noelle Mayor with nine kills, and Chelsea Blakely with 20 assists.
SFA returns to action on Friday and Saturday, entering back into Southland Conference play with UT-San Antonio and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi coming to Nacogdoches.
