NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Debbie Humphreys picked up her 450th career win on Tuesday night as the Ladyjacks knocked off UT-San Antonio 3-0 (30-21, 30-13, 30-21) to move to 3-0 in Southland Conference play. SFA has now won the last 14 matches between the schools.
It is the seventh straight win for SFA (13-5, 3-0) this season - the fifth straight that has only gone three games - and stretches its conference winning streak to an astounding 54 consecutive matches.
The Ladyjacks got the better of the youthful Roadrunners (7-12, 0-3), holding UTSA to .084 hitting on the night. SFA did an exceptional job holding down the Roadrunners' Victoria Prior - ranked second in the SLC in kills - to only two kills on the night.
Lauren Railey was nearly unstoppable on the night, pouring in a match-high 20 kills for the Ladyjacks, and picking up 15 digs on the side. It is the first time this season that a Ladyjack has accumulated 20 kills in any match.
The night also saw its share of long points, as the two teams combined for nine players with double-figures in digs. Jami Hill made her debut in the libero jersey and picked up a match-high 22 digs; freshman Laurel Kuepker had 17 of her own, several of the highlight variety that would eventually lead to Ladyjack points.
Oddly enough, the Roadrunners finished with the advantage at the net on the night as they totaled seven blocks to the Ladyjacks' three. It is the first time that SFA has been out blocked since Sept. 1.
SFA gets a quick turnaround as it returns back to the court tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
