
SFA Learns NCAA Schedule

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team will open its 2007 NCAA Tournament appearance at the site of this year's Women's College Cup -- College Station, Texas. The Ladyjacks will play No. 2 seed Texas A&M in the opening round Thursday as part of a four-team pod that also includes BYU and Texas.
The Ladyjacks earned the second NCAA Championship berth in school history Sunday when they knocked off McNeese State, 3-0, in the finals of the Southland Conference Tournament. SFA enters NCAA play with a 13-4-2 record after winning its fifth SLC regular-season championship.
Texas A&M brings a 17-3-2 mark to the tournament after winning the Big 12 title with a 9-1-0 conference record. The Aggies have hovered near the top of the national rankings all season and earned the No. 2 seed in their quadrant of the bracket.
Texas holds an overall record of 14-3-5 and finished second in Big 12 play with a 6-2-2 record. The Longhorns knocked off Texas A&M, 2-1, Sunday in the championship game of the Big 12 Tournament.
BYU went 12-4-5 on the season and finished second in the Mountain West Conference, posting a 6-1-1 league record. The Cougars won the MWC Tournament to earn their conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
