FRISCO, Texas - Senior Traci Rohde has been named the Southland Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season the conference office announced on Monday. It is the eighth time a Ladyjack has been named either offensive or defensive player of the week, the most in the Southland Conference.
Rohde was an offensive force as the Ladyjacks swept division rivals UT-Arlington and Texas State and clinched its fourth consecutive SLC title on their home floor on Saturday. For the week, Rohde averaged 5.33 kills per game and only committed four errors for a .475 attack percentage.
After knocking home 12 kills in a win over Texas State, she had her best offensive performance of the season against Texas State. The senior, on senior night, posted 20 kills against the Bobcats to tie the most any Ladyjack has totaled this season. Rohde hit .600 for the night, and was the go-to player in the clutch for SFA. After Texas State had clawed back in game three, Rohde would hammer home two of the final three points to kill the momentum and help SFA grab the win.
Rohde and the Ladyjacks will begin the Southland Conference Tournament againt the host team, UT-San Antonio, on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Should SFA win, they would play at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday against the winner of UT-Arlington and Northwestern State.
The tournament can be followed online at www.sfajacks.com, or at www.southland.org.
