SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Playing in the same venue that will host the Southland Conference Tournament in two weeks, the Ladyjack volleyball team made quick use of the Convocation Center by sweeping UT-San Antonio for the second time this season 3-0 (30-20, 30-19, 30-22) on Thursday night.
The Ladyjacks (22-7, 12-1) will play their final regular season match away from Johnson Coliseum on Saturday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and still control their own destiny for at least a share of their fourth straight SLC title. UTSA (12-19, 4-9) currently holds the eighth and final slot in the SLC Tournament that will be held Nov. 16-18 at the Convocation Center.
It is the tenth overall match that SFA has won at the Convocation Center, including last year's run through the SLC Tournament.
Freshman Kelsey Owens led the team in kills for the second time this season, picking up 10 kills on the night. Lauren Railey only had eight kills in the three games, but picked up things on the defensive side with a match-high 21 digs and a pair of blocks.
Defensively Jami Hill was right behind Railey with 17 digs, while Ashley Bailey and Traci Rohde continue to make their presence known at the net with six and five blocks, respectively.
