After rave reviews SFAJacks.com is bringing back the 2007 volleyball player's diary, this year with junior outside hitter Shelly Swendig.
Last week, we were set to play three home matches coming off a long week in Louisiana. Tuesday, we had our "Dig for the Cure" match against our rivals of Sam Houston, and those two factors together created quite the crowd. It was an exciting atmosphere, and it helped us beat the Kats in three quick games. We raised over $3,000, and I am looking forward to doing this again next season.
We had a short two-day break, and before we knew it, it was time for our next match against McNeese on Friday night. Everyone was ready to "get flat after it", and we took care of them in yet another three-game sweep. It was nice getting done so early, because Jami and I had ample time to begin setting up decorations for Halloween when we got home.
Saturday we had a rare 7:0 p.m. match due to Homecoming conflicts, so we headed over to Lumberjack Alley for some finger-lickin' good bar-b-cue and baked taters with some family and loyal fans. The bees also decided to come. After this, we passed out some flyers for the game and then went our separate ways.
By the time 7:00 p.m. rolled around, we were ready to beat the No. 2 team in the conference, Lamar, whom we had yet to play. For the first 2.7 games, we looked pretty dang good; however, things happen and we lost game three by a close margin, and failed to recover. I'd like to call this one a heartbreaker. Our streak was ended, and worst of all, it was on our home court. I think one of their fans was confused, as she took a picture of us after the game instead of her own girls.
Congratulations to Lamar, but you'd better believe that the Ladyjacks are not done this year and we very well could see them in San Antonio in a few weeks.
Word of the Week: Vengeance - n. punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong.
Ex. The Ladyjacks are going at their remaining Southland Conference foes with a vengeance as a result of their failure to beat Lamar.
