
Track & Field Set to Open 2007 Indoor Season

The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team begins its seventh season under the direction of four-time SLC Coach of the Year Phil Olson Friday when it travels to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Razorback Invitational. The two-day event will run through Saturday.
Despite some key losses on both sides, the SFA men and women return the heart of their squads from the 2006 season that produced an SLC team title on the women's side. The Ladyjacks enter the 2007 season looking for their third consecutive indoor conference title. The Lumberjacks return 10 All-SLC performances and one individual title from the 2006 indoor season that saw SFA finish third in the conference.
The Razorback Invitational will begin Friday at noon with the multis competition. The field events will begin at 3 p.m., and the running events at 6 p.m. Competition will resume Saturday with the conclusion of the multis at 11 a.m. The running events will begin at 11 a.m. and the field events will follow at 1 p.m. The championship heats and the finals of the running events will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The invitational will play host to approximately 21 teams at the two-day event. Among them, Harding, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, South Alabama, TCU and Tulsa will each be sending athletes to the meet.
SFA will continue the 2007 season Thursday, Jan. 25, in Baton Rouge, La., at the Bayou Bengal Invitational.
