NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Fresh off an exciting 3-2 overtime win against Centenary, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team will head to Norman, Okla. this weekend for a pair of games. The Ladyjacks (2-1-0) will meet Oral Roberts Friday at 5 p.m., then play Oklahoma on Sunday at 1 p.m.
SFA got back on track last Sunday with a come-from-behind victory over Centenary. The win followed Friday's 2-1 loss at Louisiana Tech. In Sunday's game, the Ladyjacks tied the score at 2 on a goal by sophomore midfielder Lauren Fricks with less than three minutes left. Freshman defender Meagan Trifaux won the game in overtime when she scored with an assist from Fricks. Fricks, a transfer from Texas Tech, also assisted on the game's first goal. Her two assists lead the team. Senior Shahin Pabani leads the team in both points (9) and goals (4). She has scored in every game this season. As a team, the Ladyjacks have outscored their opposition, 8-5, this season. Over half of SFA's shots have been on goal, while the Ladyjacks have held their opponents to a .353 shots on goal percentage.
Oral Roberts brings a record of 1-2-1 to Friday's contest. The Golden Eagles played Georgia Southern to a scoreless tie last week before falling to Texas Christian, 6-2, on Sunday. Oral Roberts has scored an average of 2.13 goals per game, while allowing the same average to its four opponents. Correne Walker's three goals lead the Golden Eagles.
Oklahoma is 1-3-0 on the year but is coming off a big win over Michigan. OU defeated the Wolverines, 1-0, on Sunday. The Sooners are scoring just half a goal per game, but they have been stingy on defense. An opponent is yet to score more than two goals against the OU defense.
SFA's next home game is scheduled for Sept. 15 against Houston. The contest is set to begin at 5 p.m. from the SFA Intramural Complex.
