RUSTON, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team was defeated Friday night by Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La. The loss drops SFA to 1-1 (.500) on the season.
The Lady Techsters jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Brook Kelly scored from 30 yards out in the 17th minute. The Lady Techsters' Caitlin Crawford was credited with the assist on the play.
The Ladyjacks battled right back with some looks offensively prior to halftime but was unable to put anything in the back of the net. Lady Techsters' freshman goalkeeper Jill Medigovich was up to the task Friday night recording eight saves against a strong SFA attack.
Louisiana Tech scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal when Emily Cleaveland notched her fourth goal of the year prior to the intermission.
The Ladyjacks cracked the scoreboard in the 52nd minute when Shahin Pabani scored on an assist from Jenna Turner. The goal cut the lead back to one, but that would be as close as SFA would get.
The Ladyjacks will look to return to their winning ways Sunday when they return home to face Centenary. The game against the Ladies is slated to begin at 2 p.m. from the SFA Intramural Complex.
