Lehmann Earns Freshman All-America Honors

TUCSON, Ariz. - Freshman pitcher Erich Lehmann was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team announced Collegiate Baseball Newspaper officials Thursday afternoon. The honor comes less than 24 hours after the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team had its first player drafted since re-establishing the program for the 2006 season.
Lehmann led the Lumberjacks with an 8-3 (.727) overall record and a 3.40 earned run average. Lehmann got stronger as the season went on recording all three of his complete-game victories in his final three starts of the season. Lehmann surrendered only three runs in his final three starts as the Lumberjacks closed the season winning four straight and seven of their last nine. Lehmann recorded one of the best strikeout-to-walk ratios in the Southland Conference in 2006 striking out 63 batters, while surrendering only 14 bases on balls.
Lehmann pitched one of the best games of his career when he got the start against then No. 10 (Baseball America Top 25 poll) Houston. Lehmann went 4.0 innings against the Cougars surrendering only two runs on five hits, while striking out three batters. Although Lehmann got a no-decision in the game the Lumberjacks held on for the upset victory.
