NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin baseball and softball teams had a pair of road games postponed on Friday, and the Ladyjack tennis team pushed back the start times on its Saturday matches, all due to inclement weather.
The Lumberjack baseball team was scheduled to open a three-game series at Baylor Friday evening. Heavy rains in the Waco area have caused that game to be pushed back. The series will open Saturday at 3 p.m. and conclude with a Sunday doubleheader set to start at 1 p.m. All games will be played at Baylor Ballpark. The Lumberjacks are 2-1 coming into the series.
More rain in Baton Rouge, La. forced the mid-game postponement of the Ladyjack softball team's season opener in the LSU Purple & Gold Challenge. SFA led South Dakota State, 1-0, in the bottom of the first inning, before play was halted. The contest will continue Saturday at 9 a.m., when the tournament resumes. The Ladyjacks will follow that up with a 3:45 p.m. contest against host team LSU. SFA will play back-to-back games Sunday morning, starting at 9 a.m. against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Ladyjacks will wrap up their play in the Purple & Gold Challenge with an 11:15 a.m. contest against Northwestern State.
The SFA tennis team's matches against Oral Roberts and Texas Southern will still be held on Saturday. The start times for both matches have been pushed back, though. The Ladyjacks will kick off their match against Oral Roberts at 11 a.m., instead of 9 a.m. and will take on Texas Southern at 3 p.m., instead of 2 p.m. Both matches are set to take place on the SFA tennis courts.
