FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin sophomore Lauren Fricks has been named the Aeropostale Southland Conference Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. The honor is the first for Fricks, who transferred to SFA this year from Texas Tech, and marks the second straight week for a Ladyjack to take the conference's offensive award. Classmate Amanda Alders earned the honor last week.
Fricks scored two goals and assisted on a third in the Ladyjacks' season-ending 4-2 win against Texas State on Sunday. It marked the second consecutive multi-goal game for Fricks, who posted a hat trick in last week's win over Nicholls State. She ranks second on the team with seven goals and is tied for the team lead in assists, with four.
Fricks and the Ladyjacks will return to action Thursday, when they open play in the Southland Conference Tournament in San Marcos, Texas. SFA, the No. 3 seed, is scheduled to meet No. 6 McNeese State Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
