NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin forward Amanda Alders has been named to an elite national list, following her school record-tying performance against Nicholls State on Sunday, Oct. 22. The sophomore scored three goals and assisted on two others in SFA's 6-2 win over the Colonels. For her efforts, Alders has been named to the "Best of the Rest" honor roll as part of the SoccerTimes.com Women's College Player of the Week awards. The honor comes on the heels of Alders' being named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Alders' offensive outburst against Nicholls State gave her eight points for the contest, which ties a school record set by Kim Geyer in 1996. Including a seven-point game last season, Alders is now tied for the top two single-game performances in school history. Currently, Alders leads both the Ladyjacks and the SLC in goals with 10. She is tied for the SLC lead in points with 23.
Alders and the Ladyjacks (8-7-1, 4-2-1) will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, when they host Texas State. The game, originally set for 7 p.m. Friday, was rescheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, due to inclement weather and poor field conditions. SFA's seniors will be honored with a brief ceremony prior to the game.
