NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin sophomore Amanda Alders has been named the Aeropostale Southland Conference Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. The honor is Alders' second of the season and comes following her second career hat trick.
The Colleyville, Texas, native had a hand in all but one of SFA's scoring plays in Sunday's 6-2 victory over Nicholls State. She scored three goals herself and assisted on two others. That performance gave her eight points for the contest, which ties a school record set by Kim Geyer in 1996. Including a seven-point game last season, Alders is now tied for the top two single-game performances in school history. Currently, Alders leads both the Ladyjacks and the SLC in goals with 10. She is tied for the SLC lead in points with 23.
SFA will be back in action Friday, when the Ladyjacks host Texas State in the regular-season finale. SFA's seniors will be honored with a brief ceremony prior to the game, which is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
