
Ladyjacks Defeat McNeese State

LAKE CHARLES, La. - It was a match-up of the number one teams in the Southland Conference as the West Division-leading Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks defeated the East Division leaders McNeese State Cowgirls Friday night at the Sulphur Aquatic Center. In an interdivision face-off, SFA took the 3-1 victory to keep its perfect SLC mark at 8-0 and sent the Cowgirls to 5-3 in league play. Overall, SFA won its 14th straight decision for a 19-3 record on the year while McNeese State sits with a 7-12 mark.
In Game 1, the Ladyjacks rallied back from a 27-23 deficit to take the win, 32-30, and sailed to a Game 2 30-18 win. The Cowgirls battled back for the Game 3 victory, 30-24. But SFA sealed the win with a 30-19 decision in Game 4.
The Ladyjacks had four players post double-digit kills with Traci Rohde leading the pack with 21. Lauren Railey had 16 kills and 19 digs while Shelly Swendig had 13 kills in the match. Jami Hill's 12 kills and 20 digs earned her a second double-double of the season. Rohde, the SLC's Offensive Player of the Week, also put up five total blocks. JJ Jones collected 49 assists and Stephanie Figgers had 26 digs on the night.
SFA will return to the court Saturday night in a 7:30 p.m. showdown with the Lamar Cardinals from the Montagne Center in Beaumont.
