KSFA to Broadcast `Jacks' Baseball

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Athletics Department has teamed up with Clear Channel Radio to broadcast selected Lumberjack baseball games on KSFA 860 AM announced athletics director Robert Hill Monday afternoon. Sports Information director James Dixon will handle the play-by-play responsibilities for the `Jacks.
The schedule will include a majority of the 2006 Southland Conference slate beginning Saturday March 4, when the `Jacks host Texas State at the Nacogdoches City Park Field. The broadcast schedule includes games against Texas State, Nicholls State, Lamar, Texas-Arlington, McNeese State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana and Sam Houston State as well as two games against non-conference opponent Texas-Pan American. SFA will broadcast all three games of the series against UTA, Southeastern Louisiana and Sam Houston State.
All games will be afternoon games except for the Thursday May 18 (7 p.m.) and Friday May 19 (7 p.m.) games at Sam Houston State. The Lumberjacks kick off the 2006 regular season Friday Feb. 3 when they open a three-game home stand against Arkansas-Little Rock.
The `Jacks will host the first annual `Meet the Lumberjacks/Ladyjacks' baseball and softball teams Friday in the Grand Ballroom of the university student center. The event begins at 6 p.m., and J.J. Gottsch, President of the Corpus Christi Hooks, AA affiliate of the Houston Astros, will be the guest speaker.
