
'Jacks Release 2006 Baseball Schedule

NACOGDOCHES - The return of Lumberjack baseball took another step toward becoming a reality as SFA released its 2006 schedule head coach Donnie Watson announced Wednesday afternoon. The 'Jacks' schedule is highlighted by series' against six opponents that played in the 2005 NCAA Championships, including conference foes Northwestern State and Texas-San Antonio.
The Lumberjacks open the season Friday Feb. 3, when they host Arkansas-Little Rock in a three-game series. The `Jacks will then hit the road beginning Friday Feb. 10, for a three-game series against Baylor, followed by a game at Houston on Tuesday Feb. 14.
SFA will open a four-game homestand Friday Feb. 17 against Texas-Pan American, Arkansas (Feb. 18), TCU (Feb. 19) and Dallas Baptist (Feb. 21), before traveling to Little Rock, Ark. (Feb. 24-26) to close out a home-and-home series with UALR. The Lumberjacks have also scheduled a home-and-home series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. SFA will be in Corpus Christi on Mar. 28 and 29, with the Islanders closing out the series in Nacogdoches on May 6-7.
The Lumberjacks are slated to face Tulane in a three-game series on April 21-23. Tulane was ranked as the top team in the country heading into the NCAA Championships last season. The 'Jacks also have non-conference dates scheduled at Dallas Baptist (Mar. 14 and April 4), Texas-Pan American (April 18-19) and Houston (May 2).
The Lumberjacks begin Southland Conference play on Friday Mar. 3-5, when they host Texas State. The 'Jacks also have conference home dates set against Nicholls State (Mar. 17-19), Texas-Arlington (Mar. 31-April 2), Northwestern State (April 14-16) and Southeastern Louisiana (May 12-14).
