
Ladyjacks Beat Shockers, Fall to Cougars

HOUSTON - The Ladyjacks split their first two matches of the season at the Houston Tournament as they took on Houston and Wichita State. SFA fell to the Cougars in the first match, 3-1, but took their match from the Shockers in five.
The Cougars took game one, 30-23, but the Ladyjacks came back to take game two, 30-24. But it wasn't enough as the Cougars took the final two games, 39-37 and 31-29.
Freshman Lauren Railey recorded 17 kills, 19 digs and four block assists in her Ladyjack debut.
All-SLC preseason pick, sophomore JJ Jones contributed 13 digs and led both teams with 64 assists, just six away from her career high.
Junior Laura Cramer collected a team-high18 kills and two digs. Stephanie Figgers, a junior from Katy, had 23 digs in the game.
Six different Ladyjacks recorded a block, with Rohde recording four block assists and a solo block.
In their second match of the day, SFA beat Wichita State by scores of 28-30, 30-27, 16-30, 30-28, 15-11.
The Ladyjacks will take the court on Friday, September 2 at the Cyclone Classic at Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. They will face Drake at 10 a.m. before taking on South Dakota State at 5 p.m.
