'Jacks Add Junior College Recruit

NACOGDOCHES, Texas-- Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack basketball coach Danny Kaspar has announced the signing of Keith Hardaway to a letter of intent to play basketball and continue his education at the university next fall. Hardaway is a 6-2 guard from Moberly Area Community College and will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Lumberjacks.
A 2003 graduate of Munford High School in Munford, Tenn., Hardaway was a four time team MVP and finished his high school career as Munford's all-time leading scorer with 1,983 points. Hardaway played for coaches Dan Deaton and David Baldwin at Munford and averaged 29.4 points per game as a senior and was voted among the top-50 guards his final season of high school basketball.
Hardaway spent the past two seasons at Moberly Area Community College playing for coaches Mark Bernsen and Pat Smith while leading his team to a second place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament as a sophomore. MACC was consistently ranked among the top-20 junior college programs in the nation during his two year stay at Moberly. Hardaway was also an All-Region XVI First Team selection after averaging just over 10 points per game and leading the team with a 36-percent three point shooting percentage this past season. He also led the team in free throw shooting percentage and was the team's Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore.
"Keith is a well-rounded player that can help us offensively and defensively. He is a coaches player, in that he does all the little things on the floor that helps a team win. I look for him to be a major contributor on our team for the next two years," said Kaspar.
The 6-2, 205-pound guard is the cousin of NBA star Anfernee Hardaway of the New York Knicks and the son of Neal and Wanda Hardaway and will enroll at the university next fall. TM
