
Stevens Sets NCAA Regional Mark in 400 Hurdles

AUSTIN, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team continued competition in the Texas Relays Thursday afternoon in Austin. Senior Jocelyn Stevens competed in the 400-meter hurdles, while junior Crystal Chang completed the second and final day of competition in the heptathlon.
Stevens recorded an NCAA regional qualifying time of 1:00.40 in the women's 400-meter hurdles to advance to the finals Saturday afternoon.
Chang entered the day 11th overall with 2,986 points. Chang rallied on the final day of heptathlon competition to finish the meet with 4,972 points to place ninth overall. Chang's score was only 28 points shy of an NCAA provision qualifying score in the event. She was a provisional qualifier in the pentathlon during the indoor season.
SFA will return to competition Friday in the Texas Relays. Track events will get under way at 9:30 a.m., with the 4X100-meter relay. Field events are set to begin at 10 a.m., with the women's javelin.
