Murphy, Williams Win as Jacks Conclude Outdoor Opener

WACO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin capped its first outdoor action of the season at the Clyde Hart Classic on Saturday with a pair of event winners and multiple point-scoring finishes.
Hunter Murphy won the high jump at 2.13m (6-11.75) and Bryson Williams stood atop the podium in the triple jump at 15.65m (51-4.25).
Ayden Colbert placed third in the javelin at 47.87m (157-0). On the women's side, Basia Mitchell finished tenth in the javelin at 29.50m (96-9) and Alana Rouquette finished 12th at 21.09m (69-2).
Taylor Makiya and Danielle Bejar earned point-scoring placements in the shot put. Makiya tossed 11.88m (38-11.75) to place sixth, while Bejar finished seventh at 10.74m (35-3.50). Aiden Reed (15.95m), Julian Tijerina (15.93m) and Jackson Grantham (15.52m) also registered point-scoring finishes as Reed led with a fifth place showing.
Abbigail Hirth's 1.55m (5-1) result in the high jump resulted in a seventh-place finish.
Basia Mitchell earned a spot in the finals of the 100mH and placed eighth at 14.09.
SFA's 4x100m men's relay team of Perry Watkins, Parker Meyer, Johnny Banks III and Nicolaus Ray sped to a second-place finish at 40.65 and passing Louisiana Tech, UT Arlington and Iowa State.
Jarvis Anderson raced to a fourth-place result in the 400m at 47.19. Watkins finished inside the top ten of the 100m with a ninth-place result of 10.71.
